Protein Powders – which one is best?
Me – Has your doctor diagnosed you with low protein levels?
Client – No
Me – Do you eat meat, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy?
Client – Yes
Me – How often?
Client – Daily. Actually several times a day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Me – So I’m curious, what makes you think you need extra protein?
Client – ?????…….
What does makes everyone suddenly think they need extra protein? Especially when there hasn’t been any public health messages telling us we aren’t getting enough.
In fact the public health messages I hear say we are all getting too much of everything!
And what is protein anyway? How does your body metabolise it? What does it use it for? (If you don’t know, I suggest you look this up before you start consuming any extra!)
I can tell you what protein is not – it is not some magic weight loss tool
And having more of a macronutrient does not mean you will lose weight!
You can read more about protein here
But my A to your Q is…
you do not need any protein powder – any, ever!!
you can easily get enough by eating real, whole foods 🙂
