Autumn
March is the time for figs – delicious in salads (my favorite way of serving them is with goats cheese and rocket), as dessert or just eat them on their own
New season apples are around now too. Often they start off quite small, but I love them smaller as they are more juicy and flavorsome
April is a great time for pears. Reasonably priced, they make great crumbles or cakes and can be stewed or bottled for later in the year.
Late April, early May fennel starts to appear. This divine vegetable has so many uses. Shave into salads, roast along with other vegetables, or sautee and serve alongside fish are just a few ways of serving this phytonutrient rich vegetable with anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects.
