• Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Every 3rd/4th Weekend Rotation: Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist with pediatric experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for blood collection procedures including venipuncture and heel sticks, particularly with pediatric patients. This is a full-time position with the potential to transition from temporary to permanent based on performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures (finger pricks)
• Conduct pediatric blood draws, including venipuncture and heel sticks
• Label blood collection tubes accurately with patient information
• Ensure proper storage and transportation of samples to the laboratory
• Follow specific collection and processing protocols for various tests
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and address their concerns
• Reassure and support nervous or anxious patients
• Provide patient instructions for test preparation, such as fasting
• Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in electronic health records
• Keep phlebotomy area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies
• Sterilize equipment and ensure safe disposal of sharps and biohazard materials
• Select appropriate equipment and techniques based on patient needs
• Ensure patient comfort and follow safety protocols during procedures
Required Qualifications
• Previous experience in phlebotomy, including pediatric venipuncture and heel stick
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to handle specimens properly and ensure accurate labeling and storage
• Familiarity with electronic health records systems
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in both outpatient and inpatient healthcare settings
Certifications
• Certification in Phlebotomy from an accredited institution preferred
• CPR Certification is a plus
